Itchy eyes? Sneezing? Runny nose? Check your vehicle’s pollen filter

Itchy eyes? Sneezing? Runny nose? - check your vehicle’s pollen filter.

Recent reports of soaring numbers of people visiting their GPs with symptoms of hay fever suggest that this summer will be a particularly bad pollen season.

One in five people in the UK suffers from hay fever, which is caused by an allergy to pollens from grass, trees or weeds. Symptoms can be reduced by limiting exposure on high pollen count days by keeping doors and windows closed, drying washing indoors and washing your hair before going to bed. Try to go out only between 10am and 4pm and if you travel by car, keep the windows closed and make sure the air conditioning system is serviced.

Pollen filters keep the inside of the vehicle free of dust particles and insects. A good filter will catch much of the outside pollen, but only if it is replaced according to the car manufacturer’s recommendations.

CTS Vehicle Services is currently offering a summer air conditioning check from £45 incl VAT compared to the usual cost of £60. This price includes a change of the pollen filter and re-gas of the system, if required.

So, if anyone in your family suffers from hay fever, there is no need to make the countryside out of bounds this summer. And if you are planning to take your car to Europe - remember to get the air conditioning system checked before you leave.

Please phone 01622 236800 to book your car in for an air conditioning check. This should take around 30 – 45 minutes.
